OK...so the point of doing a roll over is to just keep the same position, just farther out without messing around with a timing decision ("I'll sell these LEAPs today and buy farther ones out on a dip").

Yeah, you're right...beach sounds good.
BTW, I corrected my post on this to reflect the people at Dean Whiter/MS gave me the info. Guess that is another reason I am glad I'm out of there.

Frank--I'm a bit confused about one aspect. If it's one transaction, the goverment considers the difference taxable--rather than the entire sale of the original leap?
