Using the Sharp Cam you would still need to store your videos somewhere - that means a hard drive. 200 hours of MPEG-4 videos would require 6.4GB of storage.

Streaming media doesn't really work yet as most entities offering streams do not dedicate the resources necessary for a quality experience. So far, broadband has made downloading large files nice and easy for me, but most of my streaming media experiences have been awful. There is simply not enough hardware in place for a good experience. Intel's annual conference call has been the only quality streaming media experience I've had to date. I really believe Craig Barrett of Intel when he says that only 5% of the web servers necessary are currently installed. In fact, I think he is being conservative. Here is some info on the hardware necessary to deliver streaming media:

I think the bandwidth explosion taking place is going to drive(pun) the demand for storage. When bits aren't being transported they need to reside somewhere. The cheapest place to store bits will be hard disks for many years to come.

I'm bullish on drives for the new year.
