Okay, there must be something I'm missing, and I appreciate your spelling this out for me. Let's say Diamond wants to roll out leaps--about 6-9 months ahead of expiry (when time decay starts in). Wouldn't he pick a "top" in a current trading range to sell--and a bottom to pick up the farther out year (2002 or 2003)? What is the advantage of your broker doing both at once? Unless you have a lot of contracts, and it is charged as one commission?

Uncle- Actually my online Schwab account has now added an "advanced option link" that will allow the spread order to be entered simultaneously online. The order screen pops up with "leg 1 and leg 2 parts". Just wish commissions weren't so high. Executions with Schwab are really good IMO.
