>> t seems that you have a real axe to grind.

I started loading up on QCOM in september 98. I last bought in april
this year. QCOM is my number one investment.

My axe, if I have one, is to counter
1. the cheerleader mentality that pervades this thread;
2. Europhobia

Regarding your tower placement. Network build out will take much longer than most pundits realise. It is also phenominally expensive.
GSM buildout in UK broke the back of two out of three network operators and was 5 years late. CDMA is also much later coming than QCOM originally envisaged.

Because of the expense of rolling out new networks, I doubt we will see full digital coverage in the US. Thats why we have expensive dual mode CDMA/AMPS 'phones. I may be wrong, but I don't think we have full analog coverage, especially in the SW. Of course, major population centers will be addressed.

A final word, this time about Gilder. I'm a little leery when stocks jump 20% simply because they are featured in his newsletter. His success as a stock picker becomes self fulfilling, especially when his subscribers follow his every word blindly.
