London blue chips finished at a new lifetime high Friday, poking above the 6,800 mark for the first time after a curtailed Christmas Eve session made more volatile by near-bedrock trading volumes. Paris, the only other major market trading Friday, was up almost 2 percent at its own all-time peak as trading continued into the afternoon. (full story)
