I suspect you come from a larger family than the one which carries my surname. My great-grandmother only had one child, a son. He in turn had two children, both sons. One son grew the surname to four, but at this point all of those who could pass on the family name stand a better than average chance of not doing so. The other son had only one son and two daughters. I am unsure of what has transpired with his offspring if any. Our's seems to be a family which does not seek to proliferate via those who could carry the family name forward.

Speaking of those commissioned by law to perform marriages, my wedding had a twist no one could have foreseen except the Lord above. Appr. 11 hours prior to the official union with my wife, the minister passed away. This event, however, wasn't known until one began to ask, "Where is the minister?". As it so happened, there were two other gentlemen in the audience which were retired ministers.

I suppose one of the main reasons we had our wedding in a neutral location was because SJ is Catholic and I am Protestant (although to be fair, the casual observer wouldn't know it).
