Cambior restructuring deal restricts company moves
Toronto--Dec 23--Canada's Cambior Inc. said on Thursday it must use a
substantial portion of any proceeds from asset sales or equity financing to
repay obligations to its fin ancial creditors, with whom it has just signed a
deal to alleviate its backfired gold hedge program. The agreement also includes
restrictions on capital expenditures, hedging activities and additional
borrowing from third parties. (Story .18702)

UK's Ashanti says margin free arrangements extended to Jan 13
London--Dec 23--UK mining group Ashanti Goldfields said on Thursday its
hedge counterparties have agreed to extend margin free arrangements until 1730
GMT on Jan 13. Subject to certain exceptions,
Ashanti's lending banks have also agreed to rollover those of Ashanti's
facilities, which have expired, until 13 Jan 2000, the company said. (Story

Answer one question - who is at fault - Goldman Sacks or the managements of Cambior and Ashanti? In other words where does responsibility rest? With the directors/management or the people who act as fiscal agent?
It seems to bother you that I hold a contrary opinion - listen I'd like to believe you but I can't.
