Post from webster on q thread "Regarding AMRO's recommendation to move from qcom to NOK based on future earnings and relative PE valuations. Like other responses this seams to be a rather bias towards NOK. NOK's 200 Bil market cap and +150 PE ratio, $ 1.15 EPS QCOM's 90 Bil market cap and +300 PE rati0 $ 1.24 EPS What does the future hold for both companies? What does the future earning power of both companies look like? Qcom will make approximately $5.00 EPS in this current FY, which would put qcom at 93PE of FY00 Earnings (based on 80 to 90 mil new cdma subcriber units sold) NOK earnings this year - ? NOK would need to generate $2.15 EPS or a 73% increase during the same period to have a similar 93 pe. I am not knocking NOK as they are a world class mfg of handsets, Q's operating margins will be substantially higher than NOK's. Within the next few years (it is my opinion) that we will see 200 to 300 million new cdma subscriber units sold on an annual basis. Q's future earnings will grow with cdma growth. $12.00 to $15.00 eps ($2.4 to $3 billion in earnings) is within reach for qcom over the next 3 to 4 years. I am sure there will be plenty of people (without knowledge)who will read about Kenneth Leon's opinion and believe him. Q's long term earning power is substantially higher than NOK and today it is have the value.
