UMC expects $3 bln in sales in 2000
TOKYO, Dec 27 (Reuters) - Taiwanese chipmaker United Microelectronics Corp expects sales of $3 billion on a consolidated basis in 2000, chief executive officer John Hsuan said on Monday.

Hsuan told Reuters after a news conference that the UMC group's semiconductor production capacity was expected to rise to 2.4 million eight-inch wafers in 2000 and to 3.1 million in 2001.
