Query: Given
(1)the deregulation of commissions that took place this fall in Japan;
(2)the significant amount of 10-year CDs that are maturing near term in Japan (where interest rates are so low that reinvestment in CDs is unlikely);
(3)the number of start-up discount brokerage firm (e.g., ETrade-Japan); and
(4)Nasdaq Japan right around the corner

Should we be putting our money in Japanese-based mutual funds that invest in OTC stocks? Will this be a prudent course of action for an early 2000 investment?
