The Norwegian sector of the North Sea, due to the deep water depth and the Norwegians' commitment to "diver-less" solutions to underwater work, is one of the highest technology areas in the industry, much like Brazil. When I worked at Rockwater, a Halliburton subsidiary in Scotland, I was one of the project managers on the Conoco Heidrun export pipelines installation project in 1994. We established four world records on that $50 million project, a diver-less installation performed by robotically operated vehicles (ROVs) in 1000 feet of water. Talk about a technological high!
