Tim. On the "no sword manuver": The essence of this is that the Japanese have the strategic vision to sieze the opportunity to make a powerful economic weapon out of nothing. For example, after WWII, Japan was poor indeed. Along casme the Korean war. For Japan, it was an opportunity to get a grubstake for a fresh start. Japan applied itself to servicing the American war effort in every imaginable way and profited greatly. Without their Korean War success, the country would probably have endured many hungry years working to develop a new capital base.

So here is CDMA wireless and a brilliant group of Americans willing to help them develop this technology which they can mass produce and extend to many non-phone applications. MOT, NOK and ERICY are proud fools with limited vision to let this get away from them
