Martin Luther king was against blacks and Civil Rights for Blacks. The word Caste is derived from portugese word "CASTA" ( pure Race) Merit, and not birth, was the basis for varna or caste. Like everything else, it degenerated into the present form. Caste is being addressed very seriously and is on the way to regaining its original intent - Merit. Dipy: Hindu religion is an evolving religion. There are no dogmas - Dogmas are for dogs - and no DOs and DON'Ts. Any religion that was created, fossilized, ossified, is lacking a breath of fresh air and doesn't change with times, is doomed to die, however much the efforts are made to spread that religion by the sword or by mere empty promises of salvation or inducements. As Abraham Lincoln, the Great American, said " The dogmas of quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present" - Food for thought. JPR
