Your bible is not faithful to the greek text. Any Greek text without getting into textual criticism which is a life long study in any case.

Your 'translation' is geared to the Arminian understanding and so the words have been changed to support that position.

The word 'accepted' is not the same as 'received' In John 1:12. No greek version uses any word that can mean an 'active' act of the one receiving.

It is not like receiving a football for a touchdown pass... that is 'active' and take effort on the part of the one receiving.. it is like 'receiving' a flyer in the mail.

If the store manager wants to call and ask if you 'received' the flyer you may even say "Yes, will you stop sending that junk mail I do not accept your offer!"

It is a passive 'receiving'. I find it interesting to see that you have been talked into thinking your salvation is due to an act of you flesh. Your testimony to me convinced me that you knew that it was God's Gift and not any work of your own.

Many people whom God has called and are the chosen end up being deceived in this way so I am not really surprised but still a little.

Hunt all you will the Bible uses the word believer rarely and elect most of the time except perhaps when you get one that has been hacked by someone who was likely not saved in the first place changing the text to suit the flesh.

If your not chosen by God then your not saved nor can be. The Disciples are not the only chosen. Try to find anyone in the Bible that was not chosen... I dare ya :-}

Samuel was dedicated and chosen by God before he was ever born.... guess what ME TOO ;-}

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Look at the order.

1 Predestined.
2 Called.
3 Justified.
4 Glorified.

Only the chosen can come "savingly" to Christ the rest who merely 'accept' Him in their flesh cannot please God and hate His Law. They will die in their sins even though they called Jesus Lord.

Matthew 7:21 ô Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Many people have a false sense of security which is not the confidence given by God alone. Some however who are chosen still lack assurance because they do not know how they got saved and know that a mere act of the will of the flesh cannot give that confidence. After all if you willed yourself into the kingdom what could stop you from willing yourself back out?

All those who will see heaven are Born-Again.. that is a spiritual experience and not an intellectual acceptance of the truth of the Bible.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Believing in God is not enough to cause Salvation. Remember the Pharasees whom Christ hated belived in God and the Bible yet Christ promised they would go to hell.

Even the devil believes and know that Jesus is Lord He has seen Jesus sitting on His throne in heaven. No a man must be Born from Above by the power of the Holy Ghost and be the called and chosen before he would ever see heaven and escape hell.

Not just the apostles are the called look Paul plainly states that all truly saved persons are the "called"

Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

Just look at the verse many use to comfort themselves and never notice what the verse truly says...

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The Called.... and Chosen of (by) God.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

In that verse the truly saved are plainly called Elect of God not written to just other apostles :-}

I think you likely are elect and saved. You have been cheated out of the truth about your sonship !

Please do not read John 1:12 without finishing the rest of the statement in verse 13. It is all one sentence and the last part of it is written to stop people from seeing the verse the way you see it.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

======== BUT OF GOD ========

Awaiting your response.

"Jesus elected no one. He chose the 12 disciples but, from then on, any and all people who believe in Him and are baptized are saved.Haqihana"

Care to restate this comment or is this what you believe?

What baptism are you referring to? The Holy Spirit Baptism or immersion in water?

Regards,
Santiago
