It wasn't RESEARCH. There were no studies sighted- it was mythology, and not even very good mythology. Any reputable scientist would laugh at it. I don't know what you do for a living- did you major in science? Have you ever read Scientific American? A REAL scientific research paper has lots of footnotes to REAL scientific articles- it doesn't have a footnote to some Catholic article piece of crap. I wouldn't slam you EXCEPT that you put that drivel up and call it "research" and "valid". I was tempted to take it point by point when you first put it up- but I restrained myself because it is your Holiday and I wanted to be polite. I think I'll go do it now. Do you recall (offhand) the calculation as to how many pounds of grain it takes to get a pound of beef? Do you know how many fish species are in danger? Are you aware we have dead zones in the ocean and in our lakes and rivers caused by effluents of various kinds? Do you RECALL our discussion about trees- and that PULP forests are not the same as mixed wood natural forests? Because many creatures are specific to only a few kinds of trees? I studied the Yucca- it has a whole constellation of animals and insects that rely on it- and that is JUST one plant. Did you know that the soil beneath rainforests is unsuitable for farming? It will not sustain repeated use- so peasants must slash and burn every year in order to sustain themselves. Do you know how many acres it takes to grow enough food to sustain a family of four? Do you know how fast our water resources are depleating? Are you aware that the aquifers of fossil water in the US West are being drained much faster than they are being replenished. I don't expect you to understand any of this- but I put it out so that your drivel doesn't stand uncontroverted. I only wish I had more time to do a thorough job- but I don't. I have to go cook a dinner. Sometimes, when I read people like you, I almost wish I lived in blissful ignorance. But the price tag is too high.
