Fred,

FWIW, I personally hate things, and find Xmas gifts aversive. I talked my family into pooling the money normally designated for gifts to a needy cause

You and I think alike. This year I requested that everyone give my birthday and Christmas gift/money to a charity of their choice. I personally do not need any more trinkets and I am hoping that the giving will arouse a spark of charity in all who do this.

Unlike India, where I visited last year, Eritrea has no crime, corruption, refuses foreign aid

This is what frightens me most. I want every dollar put to use effectively. Each dollar wasted is a dollar which could have bought medicine/food for the neediest of people. I am assuming that the task I seek to accomplish is far greater than what I can handle myself and that I will need the assistance of a charitable organization such as Catholic Relief Services. I am personal friends with the President of LaSalle University(my alma mater) who is a Christian Brother. I am hoping he will be able to steer me in the right direction to getting this project off the ground. Erecting a school or hospital is one thing; staffing it to fulfill the needs of a community is another.

Maybe more beneficiaries of the stock market will join us!

Let's hope that if they don't join this project, they will give what they can because many of us have reaped much in very little time.

Must run now, but I will PM you.

Merry Christmas,

Brian
