Hold--although if I had them for a year and thus have less capital gains, I'd think about reducing my margin a bit.

OT- what are the long term implications of a world in which people can't stay off the internet EVEN FOR CHRISTMAS. ADMIT IT-- WE LOVE THIS MORE THAN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!!

holding for earnings announcement & hopefully thru another split. something tells me we're going to beat earnings handily (in spite of "comfortable" comment at KYO meeting. At 120 or so come announcement time better than expected would bring a lot of newbies to the stock

jmac: Holding Q for years - I want those split shares and will wait for additional split shares sometime next year. I see Q at $1000-2000/share in the next 3-5 years pre-split- so why sell. I've got time and I'm not going anywhere. The run to 500 was the first leg of a long journey for this stock.

*OT* - Also, will hold my other positions (JDSU, SDLI, FDRY - all splitting as well) for several years at least. Am starting to accumulate HLIT again - broke through a triple top on serious volume last week. Also accumulating NTAP, SCOC (could be one of the big winners of year 2000 IMO). Looking into VARL currently and B2B (ICGE, ARBA) on pullbacks. Want to buy more INSP, etc. Man - somebody want to make me a loan - there's a lot of companies I would like to buy on any pullbacks. A 20% correction is not going to shake me out. My vision extends well into the next decade and grand themes are in play (wireless, need for speed, infrastructure buildout, photonics). Today we are looking at baby stuff compared to what is coming down the pike. Reminds me of the 8088 era of computing. We won't even recognize the tech landscape 5 years from now.

Happy Holidays to all.....

I am holding my shares, but might go long puts on a ratio of 1 1/2 puts for every hundred shares that I am long. I just have the feeling that Q might be a little soft the first few days of Jan.. Remember if one were to sell stock they would be smart to wait for the New Year.. If this happens I will sell my puts as soon as I see the selling pressure abate..

Happy Holidays
Jack

plans for your holdings for the 1st week of the new year...

Taxable: Exercise Jan calls for common (avoiding tax), funded by closing out Jan bull spreads (when to do this is still open to debate, probably will wait until expiration day). Hold this common until 2001 at a minimum for LTCG treatment. Hold current Jan01 DIM LEAPS until near or at expiration for the same reason. Will consider selling 'safe' covered calls against one or both of these positions if we get a huge runup before or just after earnings, depending on the current news/market conditions. Close out short Q Jan puts when they're at 1/16 point or less (most already are, just waiting for new tax year) and write more on any weakness.

IRAs: Roll half my Jan DIM calls for Apr00 or Jul00 DIM calls (right now would choose the 300 strike or lower, again wherever time value premium is < 10% of option price); cash in other half and use proceeds for buy/write fun (common+ATM covered calls) if option premiums are still huge on the high-flyer tech stocks (Q, Inuts).

Maintaining a cash dry-powder stash for any interesting opportunities that might arise.

Doing all of this will likely trim my Q holdings slightly so they're "down" to something nearer to 60% of my portfolio.

Have close to 40% assets in Qcom, over 35% in Dell so will not be adding too much to those stocks.
Will exercise 2001 Q 100 strike and buy some 2001 or 2002 Leaps at about 400 strike(pre-split)
