George, when I call Terrence Father it is out of affection for his basic sweet character, and remembered intense times at Ask John Galt when SI was a brand new concept. This is not gross manipulation on anyone's part. Terrence and I disagree vehemently on most political issues, but he has shown himself to be a gentleman and a friend, and our shared affection for John Galt, and our longing for the days before he was kicked off SI, created a bond between us. Do you remember Father Terrence of the Church of the Three Garters? Pony rides and pliant pagan women? It is simply a very nice memory of a time that was more rollicking--and at the same time more innocent--in the growth of the Internet and the Silicon Investor, which now does not feel like such a benign and creative place. Your nose probably is in joint, and I am enjoying reading your posts here. I just wondered if you understood why I call him Father sometimes.
