Lee, just to add to your point, I think if consumers are getting rich off the stock market and companies' costs are rising, the obvious thing for companies to do is to raise their prices. However that's not easy to do because their stock valuation is based on market share. This leads to cutthroat competition. I think it will end when one of the high-fliers like Amazon is forced to back down and focus on turning a profit within a limited market niche. (That is, if it doesn't end first for some other reason.)
