You didn't sell out of anything?

>It appears from this page Amazon did not do a decent job of proper inventorying:
Glenn, the only on-line shopping I did before the holidays was for a DVD. In my case there was only one model I could use because I wanted the option of also playing my Laser Disks which are now out of fashion.
Pioneer has the only DVD that plays both the old and the new format's.
Knowing the model I wanted I used MySimon.com. In case you didn't know MySimon is a search engine that will go out to every on-line retailer, and give you all the prices.
The Dvl-90 model I was looking for ranged in price from 708 to 1599. Of course, I choose the 708 price and ended up getting it from MoreAudiovideo.com out of NYNY.
22.00 shipping and no sales tax.
I can't say it was the wonderful touch, feel and the community experience that I enjoyed, but I liked the price I paid.
Now, I don't have a clue if this merchant made a profit on my transaction, but I feel I added to their pursuit of market share gain.;-)

Yes, well, on that note - the bottom line that seems to separate the b2b's vs. the b2c's seems to be inventory. If you hold inventory, you are a b2c - if not, a b2b.

In technical terms the internet enables virtual warehousing so there isn't any reason to theoretically hold inventory... the reality for amazon is that their product line is probably too diverse but they've already made a few inroads into the no-inventory SKU model with zshops. Chemdex and Drugstore.com really aren't that much different as to what they are trying to achieve for the consumer but the mkt sees the chemdex model as superior. Since yahoo and aol don't deal with skus, they don't count.
