Every individual has some sort of belief system and bias, it is true. But when you are arguing about issues that affect everyone, like global warming or overpopulation, it is helpful to have a majority of top scientists review research, and validate it or not. That is why peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals tend to be less biased than organizations like the Cato Institute which are paid to skew information to support a particular political platform.
