The power of today's wintel systems. For instance the performance you can get from a quad PIII Compaq 6400 with aggregated gig-ether, 200 M Fiberchannel disk subsystem, 3Gig working RAM, Windows load balancing etc. A year ago, this stuff just wasn't used but it is now.

We also have the new Active Directory which gives you a virtually unlimited number of user accounts and machines in your organisation. Note that this is built on DNS which gives us a highly scalable distributed database that is already familiar to thousands of technicians.

Of course Windows 2000 Datacenter Edition will reemphasise this dramatically.

Steve, I thought of a question for you, re: As far as Sun being more scalable - those days are over.

What is your basis for saying this?
