won't work .. folks are pretty much set in their minds now.

See .. everybody seems sure that it's gonna be a non event.

Now that's interesting .. because we know that there are problems out there .. it's just a matter of degree ..

So everybody has a case of "I'll stick my head somewhere dark until it goes away." So by this time any new Y2K story would probably get ignored ..

How about something like:

"Archeologists have discovered a slight error in translations of ancient Myan hieroglyphics. Where before the old extremely precise Myan calendar had the world ending in 2012 they discovered that the translation actually reads "twelve days after 2000" .. new light on Myan diction has the most likely pronunciation of the mistranslated word as "eye doo kay"

Something like that would probably send a few folks jibering out into the streets .. <g>
