Jill and Poet

Best of luck with your new thread, and since options are mostly short term vehicals, may the thread generate mucho
capitol gain tax payments.( not that i like paying taxes, but where there's a tax payment, there's a profit.)

hoping it's not too soon, i would like to post a scenario that has worked well for me.

after getting involved with gorillas and kings from the g&k thread it didn't take long for me to realise the huge potential of these companies. so i decided to get a little bold and went on margin with my favorites Qcom, gmst and ntap to the point i still felt comfortable. then i said, we'll how am i going to pay off the margin. selling these companies was not what i considered ideal. so i went and bought as many calls as i could afford on each. usually 3-5 months out and about 10-15% ootm. to date i have covered the cost of the Qcom shares and the capitol gains tax on the sale of the options, and have covered the margin dollars on gmst and ntap. am confident they to will appriciate to the point of covering a good portion of the taxes also.

as i close out each option position i plan to repeat the process. buy more margin shares and pay it off via the option profits. i do this only because of my confidence in the underlying stock and it allows me to keep the shares i buy on margin. i would not and do not intend to trade options just for the sake of making a good trade. for now i intend to keep it simple. use options as a means to obtain more shares of the gorillas and kings i believe in.

as i read this thread and learn more i may wish to adopt a more sophisticated strategy. looking forward to reading some great posts.
