SOROS, it's an age-old argument. You can ignore market cycles or try to take advantage of them, whether it's 5-minute fluctuations or major ups and downs in the world economy. If you don't believe the economy is cyclical anymore, let's hear a valid argument for that.

I think it's the majority view of this thread (and not only this thread, also most conservative economists, the bond market, and even the Fed) that we're near the peak of a long-term cycle in the US stock market. We may debate short and intermediate-term trends, or discuss the exact timing and dynamics of this market cycle, but I think there is some consensus that we're near a long-term peak. That's why this is often called a bear thread. But in the words of Bob Dylan, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
