Eccl.: "To every thing there is a season...." and reading en route is out of season is altogether, endangering oneself and everyone else.

I have a close friend who has a long commute to work. He enjoys the recorded books, says they keep him from going loony because he'd prefer a train commute and reading; but it's not possible. What he said was, they afford him nearly as much pleasure as reading them in his own hearing rather than someone else's voice but it is an acceptable compromise.

BTW, I do so enjoy your postings on some of the other threads! Although, as you know, I live in a city and am an urban person for most of the year, when I take time to myself, it is often in places that mystify many of my friends. I go for the quiet, for the canoe paddle softly on the river, for the hours sitting at the edge of the forest just watching, for the quiet joy of the sunrise over the mountains while I sit cross-legged drinking a cup of stream water and thank God for being alive.

Thank you for all of your postings!
