Brian,

U may need do more homework, other wise u would not be
able make money from this stock. There are total 40 new
Optical Networks' deal in 1999 worldwide, out of which,
32 are done with NT. As matter of fact, CSCO does not have
any Optical Network capability, that is why csco bought
Cerent and pirelli recently, and csco is trying to catch up with NT or LU in this area. Regarding to Qtera/Corvi, that is two more years stuff.

G'day all - hi Brian, thanks for the response. As far as I know, both Corvis and Qtera are participating in WCG alpha [or pre-alpha <g>] test, so my guess both have a working unit - even if they are one of the kind [note: I am not a telecom technie, so I don't know what kind of testing is involved at this stage.] Maybe you have confuse Qtera with CIEN, who is the lagger of the three.

I agree that the big three will hold their own, even for those those do not have this technology for the time being. However, the trend is that they will get their own [but who wants to buy CIEN with this price!] If Cerent is also a cross-connect shop, that may throw a monkey wrench in the CSCO camp. I don't have CSCO individually, but I do admire Mr Chambers's abilities. Even if Cerent missed the curve, CSCO might be ok since its Stratacom and the giga-ethernet shop [can't remember the name.]

best, Bosco
