A game machine in game parlors that the Japanese are hooked on. You bet against the machine. Many parlors owned by Japanese of Korean origin who apparently funnel the money to North Korea.

A pachinko parlor is a place of amusement involving a type of vertical pinball machine and a game of chance. Although gambling is illegal, you can win prizes which can be exchanged for cash in some of these places. Mr Son's family ran a chain of pachinko parlors in Japan. Some people say that the Japanese Mafia is heavily involved in pachinko. I believe the machines can be "fixed" to either let you win or make you lose (as is usually the case). I recall being taken to one such place in Japan by my Brother in Law and I believe He fixed it with the owner so that I would win. Winning is more fun than losing <G>. It was in the Southern part of Japan and it could even have been one of Son's family pachinko parlors which I understand are in the southern part of Japan. If so, I may have two things to thank Mr Son for.

BTW, Softbank closed up the 5000 Yen limit and is now at $807 in Japan. Early trading in Frankfurt is slightly lower at only $775 a few minutes ago but it has been as high as $796 in early Frankfurt trading.
