The Middle East or Ireland? Please! Those messes are no further along the path to peace than they were in 1992...

I get the feeling that N. Ireland is closer to peace than any time in my life time. Maybe both sides just blew themselves out. Not much mentioned but maybe most important, the supply side economic boom in the Irish Republic is giving the residents of long depressed N. Ireland a glimpse of what's possible if they get their act together.

Can't imagine what Clinton's hopes and good will is doing to fix things but it's the holidays so, GREAT JOB BILLY BOY!!.

<<I would like to point your attention to a Sudanese aspirin plant -- bombed during the week of WJC's grand jury testimony -- that was simply and purely a diversionary tactic.>>
Well correct me if my memory is faulty here but did not BC 's advisors unanimously support this attack? What was their ax to grind here? Wasn't it US intelligence who determined that this was a chemical weapons plant?... I know that it is convenient to drag the Monica affair into this but it doesn't wash with the facts.
The point is that the president has advisors and intelligence gathering sources who play roles in his decision making process. If he is to do his job he must give credence to these sources. For sure the buck stops at his desk but.....His decisions are only as good as his information. As far as the timing... He did not create the scenario that was playing out . The effectiveness of the strike demanded that it not wait for the Monica thing to blow over...Damned if he did and damned if he didn't.
