Their is still an enormous Market Maker cover to come prior to the split. No way the MM's can stay in a deficit position in their
QCOM inventory when it splits. The game of chicken has been sustained because of the thin holiday markets, but that window
is rapidly closing and will be effectively shut today.

Keith, I think that Brazilian manufacturing will probably go to Kyocera, whether by handset agreement or forces of nature. Two of the points made by the Kyocera Chairman during the first CC were: i) Kyo's existing stake in Brazilian (CDMA?) carrier Global Telecom and ii) Kyo strategy to expand handset manufacturing and CDMA demand in markets outside North America and Asia, namely "Australia, Latin America and China, as well as other markets...[from translator's summary of remarks]."

Happy holiday tidings,

Steve

I fully agree with you.I also belive that Kyocera will be the global player in CDMA phones on all continents and QUALCOMM will be the BRAINS INSIDE.QUALCOMM will be out of the business of wraping plastic around chips except for Globalstar phones. Jacobs stated in the meeting of shareholders on the 20th Dec. that QUALCOMM would be out of the consumer manufacturing business.

Keith and thread,

The brand name issue is one that concerns me. As we all know, people love brands and I do not see how a KYO brand introduced into the US where they have NO PREVIOUS handset market share is a positive...

FWIW,
