Scumbria,

Atlanta may be able to match the traffic, but can you match the home prices? You can pick up a nice 1BR condo in Mtn.
View, right off the train tracks, for only $350K! A family can get into a starter home for only half a million!

As long as I've lived here, there has been talk of companies moving out of the Bay Area because of the cost of living. We've heard of Silicon Alley, Silicon Gulch and Silicon Prairie, but I believe the number of tech companies HQ'd here is still growing, even percentage wise vs. the rest of the country. The Business to Business, E-commerce types were rumored to be setting up in NYC and other places, but they're here too. There's a saying that once you leave the bay Area, you can't come back. Also, people like the idea of being able to get 10 offers, if they have to change jobs, and not have to move.

So you moved down to Mountain View?

I have to admit that this is all easy for me to say because I got here in the early 70s, when you could buy a nice house for a couple of years' pay. Lucky.
