Bosco - That is a really terrible article which presents a totally untrue picture of Roth and Nortel.

Some glaring examples of inaccuracies are the following:

The optical systems move the bits, but the more important strategic manipulation of those bits happens a few layers above that, and it is not a Nortel strength.

But Roth, while pragmatic and business-case-oriented, failed to paint a convincing picture of Nortel as a
provider for that e-commerce infrastructure, except at the lowest levels.

The CEOs pick at each other, skillfully and subtly, but almost always it comes down to Lucent versus Cisco. Nortel
and 3Com will be forces to reckon with, particularly within their stronghold markets, but they'll be reckoning
according to rules set by Lucent or Cisco.

The article does not mention that Nortel is the only one of these companies with a product like Shasta which allows
for provisioning of unique services. The article does not mention Nortel's leadership in VPN. The article portrays Roth as very "old world" and conservative whereas he is "new world" and aggressive. The article says Cisco and Lucent set
the rules but what about Open IP?
