GSTRF.... redherring.com

The other type of recommendation is when analysts become proactive on a stock, relying less on company announcements and more on leg work and forethought. A nice example of this comes from C.E. Unterberg Towbin analyst William Kidd, who offered some decent analysis on low-earth orbit satellite company Globalstar Telecommunications (Nasdaq: GSTRF) following a recent conference call. Mr. Kidd -- don't call him Billy -- said some Globalstar distributors are already selling handsets for the satellite service and are prepurchasing $25 million in mobile minutes at a 25 percent discount, an indication of their confidence in Globalstar's viability. Moreover, he said that the universal pricing structure is being adopted by distributors in major markets, another positive. On the negative side, Mr. Kidd said that until mid-2000, Globalstar subscribers will need both a satellite phone number and a cellular phone number, as it appears that gateways are not yet able to switch a cellular call to a satellite call if a customer is out of reach. The granular details aside, this is good stuff. It gives a status report on a company, the positives and negatives, and all without a major market event that slaps the stock around and leaves investors searching for answers.

There is evidence of powerful support here... and just the start of a move.... to the 40s... maybe 50...

Reminds me of Herb Greenberg at TSCM trying to bring down LHSP of late... for his short friends (at low to mid 30s)... these guys are getting creamed...

If you want to short... pick a stock with faultering techs (double tops on volume etc)... not one that has just broken a year long consolidation base on massive volume....
