Ibexx,

CNBC reported: In response to the previous comment re GSTRF another analyst came out today and defended GSTRF saying it was the "influential technology analyst" George Gilder's report which came out on the net over the weekend that was causing the updraft. His target for GSTRF was 38 which was reached this am. He's now "reevaluating" GSTRF.

Hi Ibexx:

The company was mentioned quite favorably in the gilder newsletter which came out on Friday. I'd say that is helping this am's run up.

<Time to start a new GSTRF thread. The "crowd" has arrived.>Nah, Greg's just peeking around. You watch, I bet he decides it's not 'crowd time' yet. A GG flurry doesn't make a snowstorm. Already the 'shorters' from $38 are looking very happy.

There is plenty of time for a market mutilation, even before Y2K. New Zealand is going into Y2K nearly a whole day before you people, [USA], so you'll know if it's time to head for survival camp in Montana if NZ falls off the map.

Powder Dry,
Maurice

[Still waiting, since June, for a white knuckle ride down. It'll come and maybe when least expected. I hope soon.]

Hi Ibexx. I took a small position last week and also wrote some puts. Hope to add in the future.

Well Ibexx, the really big issue of the day is: who lit the afterburners on this litttle pup--Surfer Mike adding to his LOR last week, or George Gilder's latest rant in GTR? Hint: no way in Hades does GG have the pump to chalk up almost 17MM shares, so we're left to conclude that the followers of Mr. Endless Summer have still got a few coins salted away inside their wet suits.
No worries, BTW--I fully intend to offer all loyal fans first crack at subscriptions to Surfing & Speculating: Riding the Tech Stock Wave to Fame and Fortune newsletter which comes with a complimentary copy of the Beach Boys Greatest Hits and a Year 2000 calendar signed by ALL the original cast members of "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini".
I hear Gilder's sweating bullets, but, hey, it's a brutal business and there's only so much room on the beach, if you follow my drift.
On a less serious note: G*'s thinly traded and heavily shorted, so a little Gilder Happy Grenade can induce massive brain lock out of all proportion to the actual size of the bomb. Can't see much reason for today's run to get legs, dang it, unless some celestial Great White is circling and even I can't bring myself to stoop to that wild and crazy rumor level. Absent The Big Surprise, I'll set the alarm clock for June '00 on this one by which time the evidence necessary to indict Maurice or run him for President will be firmly in hand.
And a very Happy Millennium to one and all! SM
