<<Well, at close of day, I report having bought May 60 GMST in my IRA>>

My financial advisor told me that one can not purchase call options in IRA accounts. Is he wrong?

Thanks to you and Poet for taking the effort to get this thread up and running.

Noah

Jill -

I had the same Idea as you, but decided to go out a little bit farther. I purchased Aug 60 GMST today. They were only about $3 more than the May's and I get another 3 months out of them. Hopefully the merger with TVGIA will be done by then and they will really fly!

You are right. This really was an amazing day! :)

Good luck,

Ritch

Here's my report- Jill, remember our PM exchange right before one of us had a tooth problem? About 2-3weeks ago- when JDSU dipped to 230's, bought a couple May 240's and 260's. Closed on them today and bought a few GMST May 70's. Still holding QCOM May 370 & 400. Will sell those soon. Will buy QCOM and JDSU options after any dip of 15%. Lastly, since I feel in Feb/March possible correction, want to be real careful of not spitting into the wind with many call options that will expire soon thereafter.Possibly will buy NAZ puts at that time. Not sure yet. Wow, what a day/week/month year! Very long in common-QCOM&JDSU! Finally, a huge thank you to Uncle Frank; if it wasn't for his thread, I would never have participated in such companies as QCOM/JDSU/GMST.

Jill, I just sold 150 shares of GMST and bought two May 60 calls. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here, been learning about leaps (just got the Roth book), and buying them on Q, but since GMST has no leaps, and the May 60's seemed so cheap, I bought them and freed up some cash. Used the money I freed up to buy a few more Q common.

Unlike the leaps, the May GMST calls will begin eroding much faster, so the question will be when to exercise them, assuming price appreciation on GMST over the next couple of earning announcements. Let's hope we all do this right.
