Uncle Frank: Rising to your defense, as I always do, the idea of weighting it real world.

That the Q, JDSU, and (perhaps) GSM deserve more weight is clear.

What is fun is how?

That deserves a bit of thought.

And for those of you who think weight irrelivant note this:

techstocks.com

The Q is half, JDSU 1/3, and SFE 1/6.

Suppose that were reversed?

Frank,

Would it be unreasonaly difficult to break the portfolio into two portfolios, one made up enablers and the other made up of apps? If that seems too cumbersome, I'd like to suggest weighting in which all enablers have the same weight, all apps have the same weight, and all enablers' weight is twice as much as the apps' weight.

The more I think about it, the less I think weighting should be a reflection of people's portfolios. Especially because Gemstar and Qualcomm started in smaller allocations for many people, the fact that they have grown to be substantially larger portions of portfolios seems irrelevant to me.

Just my opinion.
