<Can anyone speculate as to when the decission about the proposed merger w/ TVGIA may be announced?>

That's a very good question. I had read that it was to happen around mid-2000. but, this tightening of the spread between GMST and TVGIA really has me wondering what may be going on behind the scenes. The last merger that I actively traded was Frontier-Global Crossing. The spread was consistently 5-8 points until about 10 days before the actual merger went through. The fact that that TVGIA didn't track GMST down today could simply be coincidence, but I'm wondering if the time table has accelerated. If anyone has any ideas on that, please share your thoughts.

From the CBS MarketWatch article on the merger,

The transaction, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the second half of 2000.

I don't expect any updates from Henry; he's pretty closemouthed. I hope he never changes <gg>.
