Mani,

Re: "Q1 of $310M for flash"

This seems very high to me.

But growth in high teens is quite realistic so $280-300M is quite possible for Q1 2000.

Frankly Q1 should be great with AThlon sales doubling to 2M+ units. And 2M pcs with a $250 ASP gets us to another $500M.

The big fly in the ointment seems to be demand.

I see Compaq as very gung ho on Athlon.

IBM is all screwed up with its PC strategy. And they are eliminating their retail sales which are almost exclusively AMD based (except laptops).

The tier II guys like NEC and Fujitsu/siemans are nice but the desperately need more tier 1 OEMS such as HP/GTW/Dell/Acer etc.

Execution is still key of course and I haven't seen many K6-2 533's or the new colored PCs that they were expected to launch for christmas. And AMD based business PC's are non-existent from the majors as well as a fairly poor laptop offering right now.

So yes they are doing better but if the stock goes up much more - without more OEMS you may be well be advised to take some profits.

So yes future should be great - but it never hurts to lock some profits in.

regards,

Kash

Mani,

How to you get the %24 increase from ~$250 this quarter to $310 Mil next quarter? Sorry if you have already explained this and I missed it :)

That was just my WAG. Actually I'm assuming close to 20% increase going into next quarter. I'm guessing that AMD could make close to $260M in this quarter.
