You seem fairly negative on options. However, they have become a cost of doing business in high technology. One cannot hire or retain good engineers without them.

Don't complain about paying the smart, hard-working people who made made our investments go so high. They earned it.

One question your thoughtful post brought up for me is whether these engineers will participate in Q's option plan going forward, at all or in a reduced way.

In a previous post someone pointed out that keeping these people as employees helped Q avoid the legal problems they had around un-vested options last March's infrastructure sale. All existing options should be vested by the end of the three year period.

However, as you rightly point out, this does not address the future.
