The Fairfax data is (are) from public schools only. Not really much in the way of private high schools in Fairfax County, per se, except for Paul VI, which isn't THAT great a school, academically, although there are fewer overt discipline problems. Getting teenagers through high school isn't easy, as you know. There are so many factors. Some schools "cherry-pick" students so it's not surprising that the students turn out better. Better teachers help. Better facilities help. Better anything helps.
