Boris Petersik of DLJ in Hong Kong reports the following on Tuesday, 12/28:

**The price of unbranded 64Mb DRAM in module form went up by 20 cents to US$8.30, and that of major brand product also rose by 20 cents to US$9.20 in spot market in Taiwan today. DRAM demand is gaining strength in anticipation for increase in Megabyte per PC at the public release of Windows 2000. This trend is affecting contract prices, which vendors are discussing with users at this time to close the deal for the first half of January. Contrary to previous expectations, there is now the possibility of contract prices rising in January.
