as fickle as this market is, it's probably just the mention in MarketWatch about their ties to Seagate.... amazing, isn't it? don't see any increased coverage or any other news....

The LACK of news behind the recent jump is significant. The only thing I saw was some PR about the exhibition in Las Vegas next week featuring displays by members of the Compact Flash Association, or whatever name they go by. Their theme is MORE -- more manufacturers adopting compact flash; more memory capacity; more security; etc.

Looks to me like some institutional buying. Watch for a recommendation raising the company to a strong buy or market outperform rating AFTER the investment firms finish their own buying splurge. The buying may also be an attempt by high technology fund managers to show that they have SanDisk in their portfolios this year. A hot fund manager wouldn't want the embarassment of having FAILED to buy the stock this year! Given the position of SNDK in the CF industry, there is still not a lot of float. That means any major institutional purchasing can cause the stock to skyrocket.

Jim, re: "we're currently at a new high!!!" If this keeps up, Ausdauer will have to switch from sushi to caviar :-)
