Think "control". A guy can be master of the fish tank universe. I think it is a God thing. Like TV clickers.

Plus fish make no demands. Dogs need stroking. (You know those unmanly shows of affection.) I think fish you can look at and be master of with a complete lack of involvement. There are no emotional demands. No commitment but dribbling fish kibble in every day or so.

And maybe moving the treasure chest around.

It's also soothing to watch them swimming around, a quick stress reduction. That's the reason dentists have them.

Don't you worry when you see a couple floating belly up at the dentist's office? LOL!
