More than anything else, the dramatic jump in short interest in NOT, I repeat NOT a good short term indication.

I am SEVERLY long but am afraid we are on a new trend to lower prices....9 miilion short...not ONE good thing about that.

Bah humbug!

"I am wondering if GMGC will be acquired within the next four weeks by GM or EXCITE or a combination of those two."

I do not believe that you can count on GM taking over GMGC. GM has been focusing their efforts over the past 5 years on designing & manufacturing vehicles. Buying GMGC would go against the direction that they have taken in past years.

EXCITE's removal of myTalk-powered voicemail from its front page seems like a bad sign. But take a closer look. Go to www.excite.com and under Shortcuts click on "more" and then Voicemail. I used my Excite account and password to more fully explore this site.

You will find a very promising integrated messaging and PIM site that is quite different from myTalk or Portico. The voice mail features are powered by GMGC, but the voice menu features are more limited than myTalk.

It looks like EXCITE has ambitious plans. I am guessing that an integrated messaging and PIM page may become the preferred, default, portal page.

Since GMGC has no technical VPs left and would be unable to take further major initiatives or to stand alone, I am guessing that GMGC is in the final stages of a deal with GM or EXCITE.

I would not expect the price to be anything too great since GMGC's financial condition and technical (people)resources are so dire.

By the way, Dr. James White, former CTO, was with the company eight years and as of January 1999 was reported to have 345,000 shares. GMGC tells me he is still a consultant. He certainly would have been in a position to know and profit from any GMGC achievement. If he no longer believes in the Magic, perhaps we should not either.
