Nick, i have absolutely no doubt that we WILL see a protracted and painful decline in our lifetime. the question is only when and from which level will it begin. a bursting of the bubble will likely result in a similar situation as the one Japan is now in, since rampant credit growth automatically results in a decline in lending standards. the banks will eventually find themselves sitting on a mountain of unrecoverable debt as opposed to just a mountain of debt. corporate bond holders can also start worrying imo.
