i know you have done well selling puts into a bull market. i have done well buying puts and calls.

for example, buying calls on jdsu and qcom has rewarded me better than had i sold the puts.

another example: i lost far fewer dollars by buying calls on visx than i would have lost had i sold the puts.

you cannot have said it better. the purpose of this thread is to get knowledge in options, whether you are long or short, put or call. there are newbies who want to start learning this type of investment. if taxman has not done any naked puts and has limited knowledge in this area, it is best that he does not immediately dismiss that as "high risk/low return".

as you said option trading in whatever form involves risks. however properly executed startegies do yield rewards.
