Here's the news release. siliconinvestor.com RESEARCH ALERT- SDL, JDS target prices raised NEW YORK, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Gruntal & Co. said Tuesday it had raised SDL Inc.'s (NASDAQ: SDLI) near-term target price to $275 from $234 and raised JDS Uniphase Corp.'s (NASDAQ: JDSU) near-term target price to $420 from $310. -- said, "The optical components sector is in the sweet spot of optical equipment, which is in the sweet spot of the transition from copper and electronics to fiber and optics, which is in the sweet spot of telecommunications." -- "Given our confidence in the industry dynamics of the optical components sector, we believe it is appropriate to apply a more aggressive multiple to our SDL/JDS price target." -- "We believe that the optical components stocks still have upside, and we expect SDL to meet or beat our estimate of $0.28 this quarter." -- "We expect JDS Uniphase to meet or beat our EPS estimate of $0.32 this quarter." -- SDL shares were up 6 at 236. -- JDS shares were up 5-1/4 at 340-1/2.
