In part this may be because GE (the parent company)tried to develop SiC technology and failed. For them to undertake this they probably were convinced that it had a future. I understand GE has continuing research efforts in this field.

What do you make of the largest institutional holder of CREE being General Electric Investment Corp.

that has been in place...ge pension fund i believe.
nice that ge likes cree though...i have often thought ge might buy cree.
