I honestly don't know, but would guess some fund manager is adjusting his/her portfolio for end of year.

Why anyone would take profits this close to a new year is beyond me --- and even more to the point, why they'd do so this close to the end of Q4 and what should be the company's best quarter ever.

Pat

Low volume on the sell side. An institution did step up earlier in the day with an indication to buy 100K shares at ~$32.75.

I expect to see a deluge of cash trying to buy technology in the first few weeks of 2000 as all the cash that has been piling up in 401(k)'s (as well as other areas) at a greater than 2 to 1 ratio for the past four months. VARL will certainly be of interest to many.

Anyway, pullbacks with consolidation are healthy. I noticed today the the NASDAQ again listed ZERO shares short VARL as of the 12/15/99 records date.

The phenomenal momentum and velocity of VARL begets profit taking from all corners. For newcomers this small drop is
a great buying opportunity.
I have been noticing the activity shown below picking up; however there can be many reasons for this selling,
especially at year end.

Speaking of which…happy new year to all,
Eric
