I'm not sure we can give the MMs credit for this brief sell off. Consider that this was the
last day for 1999 tax selling*, and look at the sharp volume spike in the final 15 minutes:

I'm guessing it was one or more of the mutual funds doing their year end housekeeping.
It's awe inspiring when the Big Boys make their moves; makes the earth tremble.
